..Simpson Garden Park..

I love finding new places to shoot, and the Lord knows there are a plethora of places out there that capture us photographer’s attentions.  They range from beautifully landscaped resorts to broken down buildings that are crumbling to pieces.  It could be a wide open field in the middle of nowhere or it could be a volunteer garden behind an old church.  Such was the case for the Davis Family session just minutes down the road from their home.  It’s called Simpson Garden Park and it is absolutely beautiful in a small and quaint way.  Click here to find out more about how they are adding some color to Bowling Green, Ohio.

As I mentioned in a previous sneak peek we actually delayed this family session to wait the arrival of baby Ethan.  How precious and beautiful he is.  Kendal, Matt and Hannah’s two-year old daughter had a bit of a shy start to the session but eventually warmed up to me.  (Photographer Tip: For kids sometimes it’s not always the best idea to stick a foreign object and person if front of their face and demand cheese.  It was much easier for Kendal to smile once I used my 70-200 from a sure distance, she then became more aware that we were there to have fun.)  After awhile the kids needed a break, Matt took Kendal to the park for some time on the swings while Hannah and I headed back to their home to feed 1 month old Ethan.  Hannah shared with me that Matt and her were celebrating their 5 year wedding anniversary a few days after the shoot.  She said she couldn’t believe how much time had already gone by!  All I can say is that I can’t wait to see what 5 years brings to Brad and I after being with the both of you!

Matt, Hannah, Kendal, and Baby Ethan your family is beautiful!  Hope you enjoy your new family photos and the new member of your family.

Remember this couple?  They are pretty hard to forget after I devulged my thanks to them for catapulting me into my own business.  Patrick and Jessica are currently enjoying the warm weather in Punta Cana, and I so wish that I could be there to share in the sunshine with them.

But while they are on their beautiful and much deserved honeymoon, I thought I would share one image as a sneak peek tease!

Hope you both are enjoying your new life together in Mexico!  Can’t wait for you to get back and see all your gorgeous images!!

..Davis Sneak Peek..

I happen to know Matt & Hannah from church, and what a sweet sweet family.  They actually asked me just about a year ago to shoot this family session of the three of them, but sometimes life expects just a little more.  Shortly afterwards they found out that they were expecting baby #2.  Nine months later baby Ethan Matthew was born to the new family.  So as a short sneak peek here is a sweet little moment with Kendal, her parents, and the new addition to the family.

Can’t wait to show you more from this family portrait session!  Stay tuned to the blog to see more in a few days.

..Packing away my OCD..

I will admit, I think I have OCD.  To be honest I have no idea where it came from, but all of a sudden when I hit college it appeared.  I cared where everything went and having everything nice and neat with no clutter, organized as I like to call it.  But I have always been organized, there is no question about that.  My mom BREED that into me!  Maybe its the fact that I discovered HGTV and how everything has its own place, its own nook and cranny.  And with LABELS, and wicker baskets, and organizational holders, and post it notes, and LISTS oh how I love lists, and color coordinated everythings.  I loveeeee organization, it rules my life.  I’m known for it and often teased about it, and I always say if I wasn’t a photographer thats what I would do.  I would be a professional organizer.

But right now organization is semi-not possible.  There are boxes that are filled and plenty more yet to be filled with rolls of packing tape sitting in a stack on the kitchen counter.  Not to mention the fact that our beautifully painted walls are all now stark white.  All the decor is pretty much down leaving only all the absolute essentials in large furniture such as the couches, dining table, and bedroom set.  Everything in the kitchen was tacktifully in shape so that I didn’t lose sanity when trying to cook until last night.  Let’s just say I ate my cereal with a fork as a midnight snack, its been pure chaos!

With moving I’m in a place where my OCD just has to get packed away with everything we own.  Its hard because I know we are in a huge transition, its out of my control.  And what seems even worse is that I have to relinquish control.  NOT an easy task for me, but with the military I heard its something I’m just going to have to get use to.

So for now from boxes and packing tape I will do my best to answer all emails, requests, keep you updated on the blog, and anything else you may need.  Thank you for your patience during this time of transition for us to Dayton!

..Miss Short & Stocky..

I can’t say that I would introduce anyone in this fashion when it comes to my clients.  But I have had a sweet habit of sterotyping my lenses and giving them unique personalities.  So amongst Big Bertha (70-200mm), Shorty Girl (50mm), and my Go To Girl (28-105mm) I get to introduce a new woman to my ShootSac!  I’m naming her Miss Short & Stocky.  She is my new Canon 16-35mm 2.8 lens.  She is a wide angle lens that tends to come in handy with tall buildings and short nooks and cranies.

Her 2.8 aperature gives me the great opportunity to get better exposures in places where light is sometimes much needed.  And the 2.8 aperature also has the ability to give you some pretty blurry yummy backgrounds around an isolated subject.  I can’t wait to show you some of the pretty pictures she is going to boast.  So here she is…
