..Justin & Heidi | We Said I Do..

Faithfulness, faithfulness, faithfulness,” that is what the pastor had to say during his message.  He directed it to the couple whom was about to become husband and wife.  He related that the vows that are said on a wedding day reflect that the couple is then destined to be together “till death do them part.”  One of the greatest ways to achieve that is being diligently faithful to each other in all things.  He then asked all couple’s in the crowd to take part and actively renew their own vows, just as Heidi and Justin were to speak theirs for the very first time.  Later with outstretched hands, the guests prayed over their new marriage and the revival of any marriage that was in need.  Through the whole ceremony Justin beamed at Heidi and Heidi smiled and giggled back at Justin.  It was refreshing to see a love that had already stood the test of time, because after years of being together, they were now man and wife.

After the beautiful message they headed out into the windy day ready to break forth and celebrate their new life together.  We headed to East Harbor to get some portraits on the lake, however, the wind proved to be much too difficult and seemed just short of hurricane force.  So we decided to drive in-land just a bit to find a warmer location.  After some goofing off, lots of laughter, and some posed portraits, I chose to use the tree covered road as a backdrop.  Well who knew when you put a large group of people in the middle of the road that a few cars would get backed up?  So shortly after we found ourselves begging the park ranger for just a few more minutes.  He was skeptical, but Heidi put on her charm and he let us be for a few more shots!

Justin and Heidi wrapped up their night at Lyman Harbor in fall harvest fashion!  The tables danced with fall leaves and brightly lit orange candles followed by large lanterns.  Each table setting was greeted by either a candy or carmel apple.  For desert, there was a cake table with every kind of cupcake flavor imaginable…and if that wasn’t enough, the adjoining table was loaded with homemade buckeye treats and a grooms cake.  My favorite part?  The new Mr. & Mrs. were surprised by their family with their very own personalized bobble heads!  I couldn’t believe it, they fit their personalities so well!  It all came together so perfectly.

..Tiffany & Trent | She Said Yes..

Normally when you schedule an engagement shoot, one would focus on the fact that your engaged.  With that title of engagement, comes an ever so delicate fine piece of jewelry known as an engagement ring.  After greeting Tiffany and Trent and scoping out the quaint little town of Lakeside, we started the session.  We were about 10 minutes in when Tiffany went to adjust her ring…that WASN’T THERE!  She had remembered that she had taken it off and placed it on the sink before she did her hair that morning.  Thankfully it wasn’t lost in the mix of getting to the shoot.  So in the midst of laughter and a telephone call to her Mom, we waited for the ring to arrive.

The sun was out in beautiful fashion, but unfortunately it didn’t warm us up too much with the cutting wind that was coming off the lake.  The great part is that Tiffany and Trent pretended like it didn’t even exist!  So we moved on with the session showcasing Trent’s SECOND love, his Chevy Nova!  I had so much fun being the third wheel in the backseat…I think I could have shot their entire portrait session with just them and the Nova.  However, for Tiffany’s sake we moved on as I suggested a fun piggy back ride!  Tiffany shot me this face of half hearted fear.  She said, “I’m not a very good piggy backer.”  I laughed and reassured her that she would be just fine.  Let me tell you…I wish I could show you all of the outtakes!  It was quite the feat between all of the hilarious outbreaks of giggles, just about slipping off of Trent’s back, and using the adjoining fence for support.  Needless to say, we had a very memorable day!

Tiffany and Trent, thank you for inviting me to Lakeside to enjoy such a wonderful time with you…and the Nova.  I enjoyed the laughs that the day brought and I am very much looking forward to your August 2012 wedding.  Happy Planning!

..Corey & Jodi | We Said I Do..

When I had arrived the girls hadn’t quite made it yet.  I pulled up to the model home that Jodi and her girls were to get ready at and marveled over the fantastic idea of it all.  It was spotless, modern, and had ah-mazing light for portraits.  It was just the best equation to give Jodi the great looking portraits that she had always dreamed of.  The details of her dress hanging from the window, followed by her deep red stilettos, and that amazing pearly white smile and gorgeous hair had me all excited for my first day back from maternity leave!

The ceremony did not disappoint!  A pristine white runner lined in red rose petals guided them to an archway where Corey and Jodi would become husband and wife.  Who would have knew that it was going to be seventy something and gorgeous out on a September day?  Fall weather is just so unpredictable!  However, this lovely couple happened to get one of the best shooting days of the year!  The sun was out bringing on a nice warm glow, the sky’s were about as blue as blue could be, and there was just enough breeze to keep everyone from melting out of their wedding day attire!  It was just perfect!  The harpist charmed everyone down the aisle while Jodi and Corey both smiled from ear to ear, getting their first glimpse of each other.  It was a beautiful message and one that was specifically special to the bride and groom.

After golf carts, portraits, and the wonderfully decorated reception, I had wrapped up for the night when Corey thanked me for coming.  He said, “I hope you know how much Jodi appreciates you being here!  She wanted you to photograph our day so bad, and we are grateful you were able to make it back your first time for us.”  I was so touched that he had made it a point to tell me that, because as a new Mom it was hard coming back to work with very little maternity leave.  Although I truly wanted to be there for them anyway, it made it that much more rewarding that they appreciated me taking less leave to be with them!

Corey and Jodi, thank you for investing in my services and for wanting me to be with you on your wedding day.  I’m so blessed to have shared in your special day!  I wish you so much joy in your new marriage!

..Baby Metzger | Oh Baby..

This happened to be my first maternity session that I was to photograph coming back from my own maternity leave.  It seemed so long ago, yet still fresh in my memory.  I can remember the kicks and movements of my belly, the tiny hiccups that I couldn’t soothe, and the way my hands fit around my perfectly round core.  It is such a bittersweet time to enjoy as a woman, because the time really does pass by in the blink of an eye.

Meet some of my dear friends, Jana and Jeremy.  They have the amazing surprise of a little one on the way and I couldn’t be more ecstatic for them!  When they discovered the fantastic news, Jana contacted me right away about doing a maternity session.  I was thrilled and couldn’t wait for her belly to catch up with her anticipation for the moments that were to follow!  So here we are and the time has finally come…such joy for them!  I just LOVE Jana’s smile!  It is so contagious and I’m sure it just melts Jeremy’s heart even more for her.  Jeremy has the sweet loving touch of adoration and I can already see his hands wrapped around a baby!  Enjoy the rest of these moments…

..Sneak Peek to Heidi & Justin | We Said I Do..

One October day brought a couple together through the wind and the rain!  For Heidi and Justin it was a long day coming…they had been together for six (?) years and had dreamed of this day for as long as they could remember.  It started out as blistery as it could get.  But by the time that we needed to be outside…wouldn’t you know… the sun came out and shined it’s sweet love all over them!

Heidi and Justin, even though you had to head back into your perspective fields of work, hopefully this shines a little love on the honeymoon that is yet to come!  Enjoy my friends!

To the new Mr. & Mrs., many congrats to you!  I can’t wait to show you more and I hope this newly married life treats you beautifully!
