Just about a year ago I was feeling the stress of the fall season. I had an unplanned two month old in my lap with a handful of sessions and a wedding stacked up on my desk, waiting to be finished. I was learning very quickly that my ideal thought of a baby sleeping all day while Mommy could work was a made up dream in my head. Hours passed quickly in the day, and by nightfall I was beyond exhausted. I honestly lacked the motivation to even want to sit at my desk. At that time I was in conversation with my husband. I had to have a sitter during the summer months. I realized more than ever, that my expectation of being a stay at home mom and business owner was a tough thing and that I was going to need a little help. Enter Kait! {Thank you Pastor Ryan!}
Kait saved my life. I don’t think I told her this, but it’s plain and simple. I couldn’t have been able to effectively run my business during peak wedding season without her! She came to my house a few times a week and helped me watch my son. Whom had very much entered into his crawling and walking slash get into everything stage. Every day she came in with a beaming smile on her face, ready to chase my little monster around the house. She may have been exhausted by the end of the day, but not once did I ever hear her complain! She helped teach Eli so many things and I am grateful that I still had the opportunity to be there to witness him learning first hand.
Kait is in her senior year of high school at Dayton Christian. All summer long she was in training and conditioning for her last year as the starting goalie. Unfortunately, during one of her first scrimmages of the year, she reinjured her knee. Ultimately after accessment, she could either do physical therapy and hope to make the end of the season, or not play her senior year at all and have the surgery she needed. I’m sure it was an extremely tough decision. No one wants to miss their senior year. But being the level headed girl she is, and smiling through the whole thing she chose the latter of the two options. She says, I didn’t expect it to be so different. With sitting out soccer, it was strange for me. I had never sat out before. I didn’t know what to do, yet I still felt like I needed to contribute to something for the team. I decided to put my mind to something, so I became the manager! I know how liberating that probably was for her, even though she couldn’t be on the field.
During her time with me this summer, I had asked her what she wanted to do after she graduated. Kait mentioned that she has always loved culinary arts. She talked about going over seas to study culinary. As the summer went on, she shared with me that she was unsure that she wanted to 100% pursue that. She told me she wasn’t sure what, but was really thinking about it. After asking her again for this post, this is what she shared, I knew I wanted to do something different then culinary because I was already good at it and I didn’t to go to school for it. So I was trying to figure out something I could do that is creative, fun, and worked with people. Then I realized I really liked what you do and looked into it. I then decided that is what I want to do. There are possibilities to integrate it with food. I felt like God wants me to do something with photography and never thought of it until I met you. {Love it!} Now I know that I have a babysitter and a photographer in training. That has me stoked for what is in store for Kait!
Kait! I had the best time with you this summer while you were able to watch Eli! It was so awesome to have you and I am so thankful that God specifically placed you in my life not only for me, but so that you could find what your career calling is! I can’t wait until this next summer and I wish you so many amazing blessings as you continue through the rest of your senior year!
